Detective Corporal R. Saghadevan was sent to the the jungle in Bukit Jenalik, Sauk to penetrate the Al Ma'unah terrorist camp but was held hostage and killed in the process


On the 2nd of July 2000, Malaysians witnessed the largest military weapon heist in Malaysian history. Mohamed Amin Mohamed Razali led a band of 29 Al-Ma'unah men in a mission to overthrow the Malaysian government. Disguising as high-ranking army officers, they stole over 100 military-grade weapons and thousands of ammunition rounds from two Malaysian army camps. 27 of them hid themselves in the jungle in Bukit Jenalik, Sauk and the seized weapons were distributed to the members of the group for practice.Police threw a containment cordon of Bukit Jenalik. A number of security personnel were deployed to penetrate the Al-Ma'unah's camp. However, police personnel Sergeant (Sarjan) Mohd Shah Ahmad and Detective Corporal Sanghadevan, as well as civilian Jaafar Puteh and an army personnel, Trooper Matthews anak Medan, were taken hostage and in the events that followed  Detective Corporal Sanghadevan and Trooper Matthews anak Medan were killed.
