SEPANG: The late KL International Airport Customs director Datuk M. Govinden was a role model among his peers and a dedicated leader who always had a smile. His colleagues said Govinden's track record was exemplary, and numerous drug busts of foreign nationalities had won him accolades from both the enforcement agencies and the public."He was always pleasant and had a great character and positive attitude," said Customs assistant director-general (enforcement) Datuk Zainul Abidin Taib.
Zainul said Govinden was more of a friend than a colleague."I had known him for more than 30 years. We started our career together in the enforcement division in the early 80s with the Brickfields branch," he said. The news of Govinden's passing came as a shock to Zainul. "It was a shock as we were in meetings last week and he was fine and active."He said he was speechless when he heard the news."Govinden was an asset for the department and will be greatly missed not just for his work but for his caring character that we all loved," he said.
