V. Sivakumar : The first ethnic Indian Speaker of a Malaysian legislative body

V. Sivakumar of the DAP is the first ethnic Indian to become the speaker of the Perak State Assembly and the first Indian to assume such a post in a Malaysian legislative body. He Assumed office on the 25th of April 2008 until his controversial removal on the 7th of May 2009. He was then succeeded by R. Ganesan of the MIC.
